It is the Halloween season and where there is a jack o’lantern, there is likely a vampire lurking somewhere. So in the spirit of this haunting night, what guest would not be better for me to find in a darkened building? No other than Dracula himself. In Courtenay of all places. I will be sharing his story and the story of some other characters found in Bram Stoker’s Dracula Ballet. Ballet? Yes, ballet! So, if you did not think ballet was for you… Maybe, just maybe, you’re going to find something else you did not know about yourself. Be prepared to be impressed!
Here is the teaser for the upcoming show featuring Ballet Victoria’s Dracula! Find the schedule on the calendar page – Martin
Since July, I have been working on my new show. There was the pilot, that was actually more the audition for the show. Once I was accepted by ShawTV to produce the show, we went into pre-production mode. Well, sort of. In the talk based world of TV, sometimes real world events put a camera and microphone in your face when least expected. Not a problem for me but it’s never a dull day in my life.
From street interviews, guest interviews, location selection, all take time and, of course, expense. Looking for sponsorship, gaining access to unusual places, and arranging volunteers to help out are all a lot of fun and craziness. Of course, there’s a little creativity happening as well. With all the work done so far, we now have the debut ready for air next week, and as well, we have two more instalments ready for air as well.
The show will be in a half-hour format and will repeat at different hours through the week. Once the show has been broadcast, it will then be made available on the ShawTV North Island YouTube channel.
A new episode will be aired every two weeks and will have a new guest along interviews from ‘everyday’ people who live in the region. So if you see the ShawTV/ Martin @ the Crossroads sign up at events, malls and parks, come by and say a few words on camera!
Well. Now I’m getting excited. My new little TV show will air next week. I just received the schedule from ShawTV and it looks like I’ll (we’ll?) have to get up early or stay up late to watch the very first one.
The show will air multiple times through the week so don’t worry if you miss watching every one! I’m joking of course, I expect you to record it for me, at least, and I will quiz everyone I know about the guest. The show will also be available shortly after the first air date. I will let you know when it is online.
Now… here are the dates and times for Martin @ the Crossroads:

The show airs on ShawTV – North Island Channel. This is Shaw’s community access channel and just so you know, they do air some shows in other markets if they have a good following. If you are a Shaw cable subscriber, I hope you can ask for the show in your local market that would be amazing! If you are not sure if the show is airing in your neighbourhood, please click here and select your location. You can always send an email or call using the contact information there.
If the show gains popularity, it could go national! So if you can watch on ShawTV or view the show on YouTube and like it.
Well, what can I say? The new TV show was taped yesterday. After all the planning, and preparations, once it was all done, I went home and slept for two hours. I forgot the energy and inertia that is involved in doing these shows. Good news it went well. So well that the station not only liked the pilot, they want a weekly show starting as soon as possible. Most likely in the fall. But we have the opportunity to do a few this summer.
I will let you all know when the show will premiere on Shaw TV. The show will air sometime during the week of July 10th, 2017. If you are not a Shaw Cable subscriber, the show will be available online once the show airs on the channel.
